P. K. Gopi, born on June 8, 1949, in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, is a distinguished Malayalam poet, lyricist, and physiotherapist. He completed his education at Angadikkal S.N.V. High School, St. Stephens College, and the Christian Medical College in Velloor, later retiring from government service. Gopi has authored over 27 books, encompassing poetry, memoirs, and children's literature, with notable works including Chiranthanam, Ezhuthamma, and Oolachoottinte Velicham, the latter earning him the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for Children's Literature in 2018.
In addition to his literary achievements, Gopi has made significant contributions to Malayalam cinema as a lyricist for over 30 films, including Dhanam, Shubhayathra, and Sasneham. His work has garnered several accolades, including the Sahitya Akademi Bal Puraskar and the Mahakavi P. Kunjiraman Nair Award. P. K. Gopi's impactful poetry and film lyrics continue to resonate with audiences, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in Malayalam literature and arts.
