Mullanezhi Neelakandan Namboothiri, known simply as Mullanezhi, was an Indian poet, playwright, lyricist, and actor hailing from Thrissur. He received the Nalapadan Award in 1989 for his poem "Naranath Brandhan" and was honored twice with the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, first in 1995 for the drama "Samathalam" and again in 2010 for his poetry collection "Kavitha." Mullanezhi penned over 70 songs for 25 films and also appeared in movies such as "Uppu," "Piravi," "Kazhakam," and "Neelathamara."
